Miss Guyana is a national beauty pageant in Guyana. Former Miss British Guiana was renamed by the Miss Guyana Organization. Nowadays there are three national pageants in Guyana, namely Miss Guyana Universe, Miss Guyana World, and Miss Earth Guyana, and their winners might compete at their respective international pageants.
Miss Universe Guyana (formerly known as "Miss Guyana") is a national beauty pageant for women in Guyana. Traditionally the pageant will select the winner for Miss Universe pageant. This pageant was previously named Miss British Guiana.

History
Between 1956 and 1999 Guyana was competed at the Miss Universe pageant by formerly Miss British Guiana pageant (Now Miss Universe Guyana). Began in 1956 to 1966 Guyana had called as Miss British Guinea at the final stage. Since 1988 Guyana has called as Miss Guyana. The very first Miss British Guiana in that epoch was Rosalind Iva Joan Fung from Georgetown.
National franchise
Between 2002 and 2015 Odinga Lumumba became President of Miss Guyana pageant. In that year she organizes the local pageant named Miss Guyana Universe. It's official national pageant for only Miss Universe pageant.
In March 2016, Miss Universe Guyana was owned by Jyoti Hardat from the RB2020 Production & Event Management.[1]

Miss Guyana Universe 2012
On September 12, 2012 for the first time in history, Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011 of Angola attended the final of Miss Guyana Universe 2012 while Ruqayyah Boyer declared as the new titleholder of Guyana.[2]
Miss Guyana Universe 2013
On October 8, 2013 Katherina Roshana crowned Miss Guyana Universe 2013. For the first time the reigning titleholder of Miss Guyana was Miss Indian Guyana 2013.[3]

Miss Guyana World is a beauty pageant in Guyana the winners of which go on to compete in the Miss World pageant.
Since 2001 the winner of Miss Guyana World represents her country at the Miss World. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age) for either contest, a runner-up is sent. Before named as Miss Guyana World, the official candidates will be selecting by Miss Guyana 1st runner-up or winner to compete at the Miss World pageant. In 2013 No pageant for Miss Guyana World, the representative sent by Miss Guyana Universe pageant.

Miss Guyana 1967
Shakira Baksh, the 1967 Miss Guyana, went on to become a runner-up at the Miss World 1967 pageant.[4] Baksh married British actor Michael Caine six years later, becoming his second wife.[5]
Miss Guyana World 2009
Imarah Radix was named Miss Guyana World in 2009 and went on to compete at the Miss World 2009 pageant in South Africa.[6]

In the United Kingdom in 2009, a gynaecologist was accused of giving an orgasm to a patient who allegedly claimed to be a former Miss Guyana World winner, but the patient denied having made this claim.[7]
Miss Guyana World 2010
Aletha Shepherd, who was Miss Guyana World 2010, went on to compete in the Miss Asia Pacific World pageant the following year, from which she withdrew after allegedly being sexually harassed by the pageant's sponsors and racially discriminated against by the judges.[8]
Miss Guyana World 2012
In 2012, Arti Cameron, a pre-medical student, was crowned Miss Guyana World.[9] That July, Cameron appeared at the JRG Bikini Under the Bridge Fashion Show in New York City, New York, United States.[10] It is traditional for beauty queens to be tall in order to better showcase their legs, but Cameron was one of several contestants at Miss World 2012 who were petite.[11]
Miss Guyana World 2013
In 2013, Natasha Martindale took over the leadership of the Miss Guyana World pageant, replacing Ken Chung who had previously filled that role.[12]
Miss Guyana World 2014
In 2014, Rafieya Husain was crowned Miss World Guyana 2014 on May 26, 2014.The 22-year-old scooped the top prize at the event held at the National Cultural Centre (NCC). Speaking after collecting her prize, Rafieya promised to work with various organisations to fight the scourge of domestic violence, by tackling it from the grassroot level. In addition, she is optimistic that she has what it takes to bring home the Miss World crown later in the year.The 1st runner up was Atisha Gaskill, with Denicia Williams 2nd runner up.

Miss Earth Guyana
History
The titleholder of Miss Earth Guyana represents her country at the Miss Earth pageant.[13] The pageant franchise holder for the Miss Guyana Earth Pageant is Simpli Royal.[14][15] The pageant's mission is to organize and participate in a variety of environmental and educational projects while promoting the pageant, with the specific aim of educating the public and encouraging them to preserve and protect the environment.[16] The main prizes for whoever wins Miss Guyana Earth title include a four-year University of Guyana Scholarship.[17]

Miss Earth Guyana 2010
The first titleholder of the pageant was Soyini Frazer who won and crowned Miss Guyana Earth 2010 but was dethroned with only five months into her reign. The official announcement of the dethronement was made by the organizers, Pamela Dillon (pageant director) and Wasim Khan (chairman) at a press conference at the offices of Simpli Royal.[18]
