Gateway Community College is a public community college located in New Haven, Connecticut.
Gateway Community College serves residents and businesses in the Greater New Haven area with innovative educational programs as well as social and cultural opportunities. In 2010, Gateway became the largest of Connecticut's 12 community colleges. Each year almost 12,000 individuals choose from the more than 100 accredited degree and certificate programs which they take for college credit, professional development and personal enrichment. Gateway offers associate degrees and certificate programs as well as continuing education and early college/high school partnership programs.
The thriving downtown campus is located one block from the New Haven Green and Yale University. The college was founded in 1992 with the merger of South Central Community College in New Haven and the Greater New Haven State Technical College in North Haven.
In 2014, Gateway Community College became the first college in Connecticut to receive official recognition as a “Smoke-Free” campus by the State Department of Public Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

LEED Campus
Gateway's four-story, 358,000-square-foot campus features 90 general purpose classrooms, 22 computer labs, 10 meeting spaces, a two-story Library & Learning Commons, a cafeteria, a bookstore, a small business center, a culinary arts center, a health center, an early learning center, administrative offices and a variety of other features. The campus, which was designed by Perkins+Will, is the largest public project in Connecticut — and the largest project on any college campus in the state.
In addition to our state-of-the-art amenities, the campus upholds a strong commitment to the environmental health of the faculty, staff and students, the community and the city of New Haven.
