Controversies: Karnataka Media reported on 5 March 2016 that Vajubhai Vala refused to meet former Indian Prime-minister H D Devegowda.[9] It was also reported that Vala was asleep when Devegouda arrived to meet him at Rajbhavan as per pre-scheduled meeting. There was a lot of condemnation of this act of Vala by Kannadigas on social media who criticized him as "majavala" (meaning he is only in Karnataka to enjoy) and used #gobackvala in their posts.
