Christine Margarete Anderson is a German politician who is serving as an Alternative for Germany (AfD) Member of the European Parliament.[3]
Anderson completed a commercial apprenticeship. She has lived in the United States for six years, where she studied economics and worked for a US trading company.[4] The studies Anderson said she undertook and the corporate position she said she had have been disputed.[5]
In 2013 she became a member of Alternative für Deutschland. From 2016 to 2018 Anderson was the parliamentary group leader of the AfD in the Limburg-Weilburg district assembly. She was elected to the European Parliament in May 2019.[6] Before the election, she stated her goal was to "lead Germany out of this EU nightmare".[7]
Der Spiegel has described Anderson as an activist of the anti-Islam Pegida alliance.[7] She has participated in Pegida street protests, and has promoted anti-Muslim views on social media.[8] She has also appeared on Canadian Rebel News where she gave her support to the Freedom Convoy.[8] In the European Parliament, she is a member of the Committee on Culture and Education, the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality and the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age, and a deputy in the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection.[9]
Most recently, Anderson was appointed to the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic, and in a July, 2022 session she entered into the record a complaint that there had been too much emphasis upon getting vaccines into healthy people.[10]
Born in Eschwege,[11] Anderson has three children and lives in Fulda.[12][13]
