The 1998–99 season was the tenth season of the Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] In the lockout-shortened season of 50 games, the Magic returned to the playoffs as the third seed with a 33-17 record after a one-year absence, as Darrell Armstrong had a breakout season winning both the Sixth Man and Most Improved Player awards. However, in the first round of the playoffs, the Magic lost to the #6 seed Philadelphia 76ers in four games. Following the season, head coach Chuck Daly retired, Anfernee Hardaway was traded to the Phoenix Suns, Nick Anderson was dealt to the Sacramento Kings, and Horace Grant was sent to the Seattle SuperSonics. This was also former All-Star Dominique Wilkins' final year of his career.
