"You and I" is a song written by Frank J. Myers, and recorded by American country music artists Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle as a duet. It was released in October 1982 as the first single from the album Radio Romance. "You and I" became a major country pop crossover hit for both artists.
US television show Glee covered this song in a mash-up with the Lady Gaga's same titled song in episode "Mash Off."[1][2]
Reception
- In 2005, the song ranked number 7 on CMT's 100 Greatest Duets in Country Music. Gayle performed the duet Raul Malo of The Mavericks since Rabbitt had died of lung cancer in 1998.
- "You and I" went to number 1 on the Country chart for one week.[3]
- On the Hot 100, the song spent 23 weeks on the chart, peaking at number 7,[4] and making it the 12th biggest song of the year.[5]
