Yang Rong (born June 3, 1981) is a Chinese actress of Bai origin best known for her role as Su Lianyi in Cosmetology High, a historical television series which reached number one in ratings when it aired on Hunan Television.[1][2][3]

Biography
Early life
Born in Baoshan, Yunnan, on June 3, 1981, Yang Rong graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, where she majored in acting.
In 1992, at the age of 11, she enrolled at Yunnan Art School to study dance. Two years later, she studied acting in Shanghai Normal University Xie Jin School of film and Television Art.[4] In 1997, by age 16, she was accepted to Shanghai Theatre Academy and graduated in 2001.
Acting career
Yang Rong made her film debut in Xie Jin's war epic film The Opium War, playing a servant girl. That same year, she starred in Ten Thousand Mile Clear Sky as He Dongmei.
From 1998 to 2006, she appeared in many television series, such as West Street Girl, Legend of Ji Gong, The Censor of Qing Dynasty, and Yongle Hero Children.
In 2007, Yang Rong was cast as Qing Wen in the drama Dream of the Red Chamber, based on Cao Xueqin's classical novel.[5]
She participated in Defending Yan'an (2008), a war television series starring Tang Guoqiang as Mao Zedong, the Chinese Communist Party leader.
In 2012, she was cast in the supporting role of Xujia Xixiang in the ETV Media Culture's production of Palace 2, written by Yu Zheng.[6] The same year, she co-starred with Zanilia Zhao and Chen Xiao in the historical television series Legend of Lu Zhen as Xiao Huanyun.[7]
In 2013, Yang Rong starred with Wallace Huo, Mabel Yuan, Joe Chen, and Chen Xiao in Swordsman, based on the wuxia novel The Smiling, Proud Wanderer by Jin Yong.
In 2014, she starred as Tong Yuxiu in the Palace 2 sequel, Palace 3: The Lost Daughter. She was also a guest start in the wuxia television series The Romance of the Condor Heroes, which starred Chen Xiao as Yang Guo, and Michelle Chen as Xiaolongnü. The same year, she starred in the historical television drama Cosmetology High, the series was one of the most watched dramas in China while it aired on Hunan Television.
In 2015, Yang Rong starred opposite Angelababy, Du Chun, Lu Yi in Cloud in the Song, a historical romantic comedy television series adaptation based on the novel of the same name by Tong Hua.[8]
