Women's World Chess Championship 2017
The Women's World Chess Championship 2017 is an upcoming match between the 2016 Women's World Chess champion and a challenger. The challenger will be the winner of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2015–16, or runner-up in case the Grand Prix winner is the 2016 world champion.[1]
The match is played over 10 games from in the second half of the year. No host has been announced yet.

2016 knock-out World Champion
After the 2016 world championship match Hou Yifan and Maria Muzychuk in March, another world championship in held in October. The winner of that 2016 knock-out championship qualifies. The tournament will again be held with 64 players from 11 to 31 October 2016.
2015/16 Grand Prix winner
The challenger qualifies by winning the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2015–16. Three of five Grand Prix stages have been held. The current leader is Valentina Gunina with 205 points. Her next competitors that can overtake her are Alexandra Kosteniuk with 195, and Koneru Humpy and Zhao Xue with 190 points.[2] The next tournament is held from 1 to 15 July in Chengdu, China.
