The 1973 FINA Men's World Water Polo Championship was the first ever edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body in aquatics, the FINA. The tournament was held from September 1 to September 9, 1973 and incorporated in the inaugural 1973 World Aquatics Championships, held in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
