It forms a city municipal corporation council electoral constituency and is a part of Metiaburuz (Vidhan Sabha constituency)[1]

The boundaries of the ward are: Southern bank of Hooghly River and Garden Reach Road are in the north. Bichali Ghat Road is in the east. S.A.Farooquie Road is in the south. A Nikashi Khal, Murray Road and Haldarpara Lane are in the west.[2]
