Waldemar Kita (born 1953 in Szczecin, Poland) is a Polish businessman residing in France.[1]
Optics
Kita made his fortune by establishing Cornéal in 1986. The company grew to become the foremost French, and fourth largest European, firm designing and manufacturing intraocular lenses for cataract surgery and in the treatment of glaucoma. In December 2006, Kita sold Cornéal to Allergan for 180 million euros.[2]
Football
He is now chairman of FC Nantes. "Reports claim Kita paid 10 million euros for the club, which has won eight French championships and is considered one of France's most important."[3]
"Kita is a familiar face in the world of football as the contact lens tycoon bought Swiss club Lausanne and led them between 1998 and 2001."[3]
