Timothy Curtis Alderson (born November 3, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Washington Nationals organization.
Alderson was drafted by the San Francisco Giants 22nd overall in the first round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. On July 29, 2009, Alderson was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for second baseman Freddy Sanchez.[1][2]
Alderson began the 2010 season assigned to the Pirates' Double A club, the Altoona Curve, and entered the season as the Pirates' No. 7 prospect, according to Baseball America. However he experienced a difficult season with the club and was demoted to the Single A, Bradenton Marauders on July 14, 2010.[3]
On July 12, 2013, Alderson was traded to the Baltimore Orioles for Russ Canzler.[4] He was released by the Orioles on July 14, 2014 [5]
He was signed to a minor league contract by the Oakland A's on July 21, 2014.[6] In February 2015, he signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.[7] He elected free agency on November 6, 2015.[8]
