"The Sun Rising" is a hit single by UK band The Beloved. It was their first top 40 hit in the UK, peaking at #26 in the UK Singles Chart in November 1989. "The Sun Rising" appears on their top 20 album Happiness. The song was re-released in 1997 and reached #31 in the UK. The female vocal that has been sampled in "The Sun Rising" is from a song titled "O Euchari" which appears on the album "A Feather On The Breath Of God" composed by Abbess Hildegard Of Bingen and sung by Emily Van Evera who was a member of the vocal ensemble Gothic Voices in 1981 when the album "A Feather On The Breath Of God" was originally recorded. The "O Euchari" sample was not credited on the release of "The Sun Rising" single. An out of court settlement was reached between WEA and the "Gothic Voices" record label "Hyperion Records" for this omission. The song was also used in a commercial for the breakfast cereal Alpen.
