OJSC Taimyr Air Company (Russian: ОАО «Авиакомпания «Таймыр»), operating as NordStar, is a Russian airline based in Norilsk. Its main base is Alykel Airport.

History

NordStar was founded by Norilsk Nickel and was launched on 17 December 2008, based on local Taimyr Peninsula airlines. NordStar replaced KrasAir as the biggest airline of Krasnoyarsky kray.

NordStar operated its first flight on 17 June 2009, from Norilsk to Moscow-Domodedovo and Krasnoyarsk.

In 2010 and 2011, from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Norilsk, Nordstar began flights to Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk, Yekatrinburg, Tomsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut, Chita, Ulan-Ude, Irkutsk, Baykit, Vanavara, Tungunsk, Turukhansk, Severo-Eniseisk, Igarka, Dushanbe and Tashkent.

NordStar's fleet consists of 9 Boeing 737–800 jets, which are equipped with business and economy classes. In 2011, 4 ATR 42-500s joined the fleet, for regional services. In the near future, NordStar will develop a passenger loyalty program and extend its route network.

On December 1, 2011 Norilsk Nickel, Taimyr Airlines's parent company, reported that Nordavia is to be merged with Taimyr Air Company.[2]
