Supercrawl is an annual art and indie music festival held in downtown Hamilton, Ontario.
History
Supercrawl was founded in 2009 by Tom Potocic and the music label Sonic Unyon. It grew out of the monthly event known as Art Crawl, a tour of art galleries in Hamilton that is still active.[1]
The event
Supercrawl features three days of free music spread over five stages lining the length of James Street North. The festival attracts over 100,000 visitors to watch over 50 bands, making it one of largest free music festivals in Ontario. The festival also showcases visual art, performance art, and fashion.[2][3][4][5]
The arts festival has been cited as part of a larger, arts-based revival in Hamilton as the former industrial city becomes a regional center for the arts.[6]
Past musical performers
Past headliners have included: Broken Social Scene (2011) K'naan (2012) Passion Pit (2013) Spoon (2014) Arkells (2014)
