From Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core
Société de Microélectronique et d'Horlogerie was the original name of the new holding company issued from the merger enforced by the Swiss Banks in 1983 of both the SSIH and ASUAG, now Swatch Group (see [1] ).
Dr. Ernst Thomke, previously CEO of Ebauches SA and ETA SA was appointed to head the newly established conglomerate as it first CEO. He held his position until 1991. When he resigned, its newly elected President of the Board, Nicolas G. Hayek, had already managed to become the only person of reference.
