"Slippery When Wet" is a 1975 single by Commodores. It was the group's first single to reach number one on the soul singles chart and was their second Top 40 single in the U.S, where it peaked at number nineteen.[1] It was on their album Caught in the Act.

The song was written by Commodores lead guitarist, Thomas McClary.

The Sons of Champlin recorded the song in 1976 on their album A Circle Filled With Love (Ariola) as "Slippery When It's Wet".

This song was played briefly in an episode of House (TV series), complete with Hugh Laurie in character playing "guitar" on his cane.
