The Saraswats are a sub-group of Hindu Brahmins who trace their ancestry to the banks of the erstwhile river Sarasvati. They have migrated to various parts of northern, western and southern India.
The Saraswat Brahmins in Kashmir are better known as Kashmiri Pandit.
