Santa Rosa, El Oro
Farming center about 10 miles south of Machala, Ecuador. Santa Rosa that is the site for a large new airport to serve the southern part of Ecuador. This airport is operational offering flights to mayor cities in Ecuador like Guayaquil, Quito, Cuenca, and in the near future Peru and USA.[1]

Aeropuerto Regional del Sur Ecuatoriano
The airport, which will be named the "Aeropuerto Regional del Sur Ecuatoriano," is, as of late 2009, nearing completion of its initial phase. Planning for the new airport began in 2002.[2] The runway will be 2,500 m in length and 45 m wide, with an additional 7.50 m of shoulder on each side, providing a total width of 60 m.[3] The runway is capable of handling B-727s and B-737s. Expenses for the construction of the airport is expected to reach US$44 million. Although no airlines are currently contracted to use the airport, several airlines have expressed interest.[4] A blog entry by a TAME representative suggests that airline will serve the new airport.[5] The terminal building is planned to be 5,000 sq. m. in size.[6]
Festivities
The festivities in Santa Rosa are celebrated every year in August and last 10 days. Events take place in front of the main Catholic Church where tourists can witness fireworks, forkloric music, typical dances, and local traditional games.
