Features
STDU Viewer has a tabbed document interface.[4][5] Current versions allow users save and restore sessions manually. It displays thumbnails of pages,[4][5] it can create users' bookmarks,[4][5] make color adjustments[6] and change text settings.[7] The program supports three types of search algorithms and all the search results can be displayed in a list.[4]
The rotation to 90 degrees option is useful for the portrait orientation of monitors.[7][8] The opened document pages can be exported to text or image.[6]
Versions history
The first version of STDU Viewer was the version 1.0.60, released the 13th of September, 2007. The program supported only PDF (including hyperlinks embedded), DjVu and TIFF formats.
The Unicode characters have been supported since the version 1.0.76. The Print document function first became available in the version 1.4.7.
Critical reception
STDU Viewer was appreciated for its feature to read a wide range of ebook formats and can be considered as a replacement to Adobe’s reader.[5][9]
STDU Viewer was included in the list of top 50 freeware of 2009[10] and best software for students.[11]
The program doesn't support online help CHM files, LIT,[5] DOC, and HTML.[12] When printing PDF document, a large temporary file is created, so the printing process is slow.
