Restoration of Political Science, or a Theory of Natural Sociability against the Chimera of Artificial Civil Society (German: Restauration der Staats-Wissenschaft: oder Theorie des natürlich-geselligen Zustands, der Chimäre des künstlich-bürgerlichen entgegengesetzt) is the magnum opus of Swiss philosopher Karl Ludwig von Haller and a key document of counter-revolutionary thought. Published in successive volumes from 1816 to 1834, the work formed an epoch in the history of theoretical and practical politics.
In Italy his ideas exerted considerable influence on the counter-revolutionary circles in Turin of the Restoration era and also on the ideas of the young Antonio Rosmini,[lower-alpha 1] even though he too would later move away from strict patrimonial doctrine.[1] Monaldo Leopardi, another admirer, defended the patrimonial state and was opposed to the centralised administration wanted by Ercole Consalvi.

Footnotes
- ↑ Rosmini heard about the Restoration as soon as it was published, — he had it in his hands in the original German in the spring of 1822 — had it translated by Luigi Ugolini and the most notable part of the introduction read by Stoffella della Croce at the Academy of the Comfortable.
