Brett Emerton (born February 22, 1979 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) is a football (soccer) player who plays for Blackburn Rovers in England. He is usually a wide midfielder but has been known to play in central positions or at full back.
Emerton was a product of the Australian Institute of Sport and started his career with the Olympic Sharks (now Sydney Olympic) in the National Soccer League in August 1996, making 93 appearances and scoring 14 goals. After captaining the Olyroos at the Sydney Olympics, he joined Feyenoord Rotterdam in August 2000 for a fee of £415,000.
