Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh. The first edition of the tournament started on 10 February 2012 with six franchises consisting of players from around the world.The 7 divisional cities were chosen as the franchise teams to participate in the tournament. In the first season of BPL, 6 divisions were chosen among 7, with the exception of Rangpur. However, Rangpur Division was added in the second edition. The franchise is Rangpur Riders
Dhaka Gladiators were the inaugural champions of the BPL.
The Bangladesh Premier League was broadcast internationally through ESPN Star Sports who made agreements to broadcast matches on a daily basis. The official channel for the BPL was Channel 9.

The players auction for the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League was held on December 20, 2012 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka. Domestic players were set a base price between $10,000 and $50,000, while international players were set a base price between $15,000 and $75,000.No Indian players included in 2013 BPL edition.

Abdur Razzak (born 15 June 1982) is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He made his first-class debut at Bangladeshi domestic level for Khulna Division in the 2001/02 season. Best known for being a tall left-arm orthodox spin bowler, he helped guide his division to the National Cricket Title in his maiden season. From there he was selected for Bangladesh A (training team for the full national squad) performing well against Zimbabwe A, including figures of 7 for 17 in one game in Dhaka.
Razzak was called into the Bangladesh national team for the 2004 Asia Cup One Day International tournament, making his debut against Hong Kong in July. He established himself as a regular fixture in the squad although he was not a regular in the starting eleven. He made his Test debut in the second Test of the Australian tour of Bangladesh in April 2006. Though he has played just nine Tests, he has been more successful in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and is Bangladesh's leading wicket-taker in the format.

The inaugural season of the tournament started on 9 February on 2012 with an opening ceremony with the first match starting on 10 February 2012 and finish with the final on 29 February 2012. A total of 33 matches were scheduled, all of which were be played at two stadiums, Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka and Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Each team played each team twice, both at home and away in a round-robin system. The top four teams at the end of the round robin stage progressed to the knockout stage. Sylhet and Chittagong failed to progress to the semi finals. Rajshahi, Khulna, Dhaka and Barishal reached semi finals. Afterwards, Dhaka took the champions trophy beating Barisal in final.
