Pont-rhyd-y-groes (English: the bridge of the ford of the cross, also Pontrhydygroes) is a village in Ceredigion, Wales located near Cwm Ystwyth and Pont ar Fynach. The village takes its name from the bridge (Welsh: pont) and (earlier) ford (Welsh: rhyd) over the River Ystwyth.
The area used to be dominated by the mining industry, in particular by the Lisburnes. The miners' bridge across the Ystwyth gorge and the waterfall have been rebuilt.
The remnants of Fron Ceilliau Lead & Zinc Mine are situated about two miles from Pont-rhyd-y-groes.[1]
