Pithapuram temple is situated at Pithapuram area in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. It is located 75 km from city Rajahmundry and only 20 km from Kakinada. The location is popular for various Hindu temples. Pithapuram temple is among one of them. The main deity of this Hindu temple is Kukkuteshwara Swamy.
History
However, there is no evidence available regarding the construction history of this ancient temple, but it is believed[by whom?] that this Hindu temple was built by one of the local kings in the region. The temple is also famous for its “single stone Nandi” and a “self originated Shiva Linga”.
