Hazrat Pir Baba (Pashto: پیر بابا‎), Pir Baba is/was the great Sufi spiritual saint real name "Hazrat Syed Ali Shah Tirmizi of Silsila Tariqat (Chain) of Kabravia, Chasti Nizami. Muqam (Martaba) Gaus, Shahenshah Khurasan (Rahmatullahi Allaih)" { Birth Hijri 908 and Death Hijri 991 }. He was born in 1431 AD and died in 1502 AD/CE.[1]

Early life and origin

Pir Baba was born in respectable Syed family in Kunar province of Afghanistan.He was son of Syed Qanbar Ali Shah and grandson of Syed Ahmed Noor.His father was a court official with Mughal King Babur and achieved the title of Amir Nazur Bahadur . In childhood he got his early education from his Grandfather Syed Ahmed Noor.When it was time for Syed Ahmed Noor to pass away he Called Pir Baba and asked him to recite something he knew from Holy Quran.Pir Baba recited what he knew and after that his Grandfather inducted him into Silsala Kubrawiya.

Shrine(Mazar)

Pir Baba's grave and shrine is in Bacha Killay village in the mountainous Buner District of present Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[2][3]

Urs Mubarak

The annual Urs or Pilgrimage of Hazrat Pir Baba is celebrated from 24th to 26th Rajab of the Islamic calendar month every year in Buner. People come from all over and participate in this holy occasion for some days.

The Shrine was closed by the Taliban temporarily.[4]

Descendants

Pir Baba's family is mostly settled in Northern-areas of Pakistan.They use the surname of Tirmizi.They are syeds from their patrilineal linkage with Pir Baba and follow Sunni sect as him.
