Percy Hatfield (born c. 1948) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He is a New Democratic member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario who was elected in a 2013 by-election. He represents the riding of Windsor—Tecumseh.
Background
Hatfield was born and raised in St. Martins, New Brunswick. He moved to Windsor, Ontario in 1975. He obtained a degree in political science from the University of Windsor. He worked as a local reporter for CBC in Windsor. He and his wife Gale live in Windsor where they raised their two children.[1]
Politics
Hatfield was a city councillor for Windsor City Council and was chair of the Essex Region Conservation Authority.[1]
Hatfield was elected in a by-election on August 1, 2013. He ran as the New Democratic candidate in the riding of Windsor—Tecumseh. He defeated Progressive Conservative candidate Robert De Verteuil by 10.544 votes.[2] He was re-elected in the 2014 provincial election defeating Liberal Jason Dupuis by 17,221 votes.[3]
He is the party's critic for infrastructure and environmental issues.[4]
