Pentagon (Hangul: 펜타곤; also stylized as PTG) is an upcoming South Korean boy group formed by Cube Entertainment in 2016. The members are introduced through Mnet's survival show, "Pentagon Maker". The group has 10 possible members: Jinho, Hui, E'Dawn, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok.

History

Pre-debut

Prior to Pentagon Maker, some of the initial members of Pentagon gained public recognition through solo and group activities. Jin Ho was a former trainee from SM Entertainment and was an active member of SM the Ballad in 2010.[1] Hui, E'Dawn, Kino and Yeo One participated in G.NA's "Secret" music video and promotional activities with CLC in 2014.[2] In the same year, Hong Seok competed in YG Entertainment's survival program, "Mix & Match" in which he failed to become a member of the group iKON.[3] In 2015, E'Dawn joined 4Minute's Hyuna's promotions for "Roll Deep" as the featured rapper replacing BTOB's Jung Il-hoon due to schedule conflicts.[4] Yeo One appeared in Beast's Dongwoon's "KIMISHIKA" music video.[5] In 2015 and 2016, respectively, Yeo One and Hong Seok were models with Hyuna for casual brand, CLRIDEN, [6][7]

Pentagon Maker

On December 2015, Cube Entertainment announced that they are preparing to debut a boy group in mid-2016, 4 years after BTOB's debut.[8] The first group trailer "Come Into The World" was revealed on April 26 featuring 10 members.[9]

It was later confirmed that the 10 members featured on the teaser will be competing on "Pentagon Maker". The program will be aired online through Mnet's digital content brand, M2 every Monday and Tuesday starting on May 2. The program will showcase the 10 members, challenging five aspects: Performance, Dance, Teamwork, Talent, and Mind. The trainees will be given missions and may work individually or as a team. The final members will be determined through video likes and a finale stage, also considered as the debut stage, will take place on July 16.[10][11][12] They held their first public performance at West Bridge Live Hall in Hongdae on May 21, 2016.[13]
