Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture (PAJANCOA) is an agricultural college established on 2 October 1987 at the village Serumavilangai in Karaikal district of the Union Territory of Puducherry, India. It is an autonomous educational institution that comes under the control and supervision of the government of Puducherry and is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore. Now the institute has completed 25 years of academic, research and extension service and is celebrating the Silver Jubilee Year during [(2012)]. It is the only Agriculture Institute in U.T. of Puducherry having its main campus at Karaikal offering both undergraduate and post graduate education.

Research Institute

In 1997, PAJANCOA was upgraded as research institute and since then, it has been called as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute (PAJANCOA & RI).

In 1999-2000, the post graduation program was started. It has 225 acres with six ponds.

Achievement

It has released a rice variety named KKLR 1 - alternative to CR 1009 and highly suitable for the region. This Institute is implementing the Precision farming project on a demonstrative mode in the farmers field of Karaikal from the year 2008.

Other facilities

  • It has a 1(P) Naval Unit in-charge of S.Lt. Dr. P. Pandiyan
  • The alumni association is run by the pioneer batch student cum Assistant Professor Dr.L. Aruna.
  • There is a well furnished hostels for both boys and girls within the campus.
