During World War II Operation Inmate was the bombardment of Japanese bases on Truk in the Caroline Islands conducted from 12 to 16 June 1945. The operation was largely symbolic in allowing for a British battle contribution to the Pacific Campaign. By this late stage in the war, Truk had already been effectively neutralized, with American forces having destroying its offensive and shipping capabilities through Operation Hailstone in 1944.

The bombardment force consisted of Task Group 111.2, a detachment from the British Pacific Fleet. Task Group 111.2 comprised four Task Units:

Task Unit 1
Task Unit 2
Task Unit 5 (later Task unit 3)
Task Unit 15
