Nick Tanner (born Bristol 24 May 1965) is a former footballer who played non-league football for Mangotsfield United before playing professionally for Bristol Rovers, Liverpool, Norwich City and Swindon Town. He started professional life as a central midfield player at Bristol Rovers before being signed by Liverpool, and was then converted to a central defender.

Tanner joined Liverpool from Bristol Rovers and had a short spell on loan at Norwich City in 1990 where he made six appearances. He returned to Liverpool and played 59 games for the club scoring one goal against Everton in 1991 before retiring through a back injury in 1994. Tanner's mother would not watch any of his matches, whether live or on highlights programs, for fear of seeing him receive a yellow card.

Since retiring, he became manager of Almondsbury Town in November 2003 leaving them two years later to manage Roman Glass St George.[1] Tanner left Roman Glass St George to become chief scout at Forest Green Rovers and in November 2006 he became manager of Wotton Rovers, but quit a year later.[1] In November 2009 he was appointed manager of Hellenic League side Winterbourne United.[2] Tanner quit Winterbourne in August 2011 however after a poor start to their season.[3]
