Nemo link
Nemo Link is a HVDC submarine power cable under construction between Richborough Energy Park in Kent, the United Kingdom and Zeebrugge, Belgium.[1]
The project is a joint venture between British National Grid and Belgian Elia.[1]
The electrical interconnector will be the first between the two countries and capable of transmitting up to 1,000 MW at 400 kV.[1][2]
The total cable length will be 140 km of which 130 km will be under water.[2]
In 2015 contracts totalling 500 million Euro were awarded to Siemens for the construction of the two onshore converter stations and to J-Power systems for the cable system.[1][3]
As of August 2015[update] onshore construction has started with offshore construction scheduled to start in 2016.[2]
The cable is expected to be operational by 2019.[1]
