Character appearance
Hewlett said that the character Murdoc is responsible for the majority of the conception and formation of Gorillaz, and that he is perpetually angry that 2D is the frontman of the band.[3][4] Hewlett has stated that aspects of Murdoc's appearance and personality were based on that of a young Keith Richards.[5]
