Mount Street, London
Mount Street, is a street in the Mayfair district of the City of Westminster, London.
Location
Mount Street runs from Park Lane in the west to Davies Street in the east. Mount Street is crossed by Park Street in the east and South Audley Street midway. On the south side it is joined by Rex Place and Balfour Place. In the east Mount street is joined by Carlos Place, Mount Street Mews, Carpenter Street and Berkeley Square.
To the south of the street is Mount Street Gardens.
History
Mount Street was one of the original shopping streets of Mayfair.[1]
Buildings
Mount Street is mostly made up of four and five storey older buildings, often with retail premises on the ground floor, and some mansion blocks.
The Embassy of Brazil to the United Kingdom is located at 54 Mount Street (the chancery department is at 14-16 Cockspur Street).[2]
The Grosvenor House Hotel and the Connaught Hotel are at opposite ends of the street though neither has Mount Street as their postal address.
James Purdey & Sons are on the corner of Mount Street and South Audley Street.
