Miodrag Nikolić (Serbian Cyrillic: Миодрaг Николић; August 22, 1938), also known by his nickname Sija (Serbian Cyrillic: Сија), is a Serbian former professional basketball player and coach.
Contents
Playing career
Nikolić played for OKK Beograd during theirs so-called 'Golden Era' in late 1950s and first half of 1960s in the Yugoslav First League. His teammates were Radivoj Korać, Slobodan Gordić, Bogomir Rajković, Trajko Rajković and Milorad Erkić. OKK Beograd's coaches during that time were Borislav Stanković and Aleksandar Nikolić and sports director was Radomir Šaper. In that period they won four Yugoslav League championships and two Yugoslav Cups. During 1965 season Nikolić got injured at the home game against AŠK Olimpija and miss the rest of the season.[1]
After recovering from the injury, Nikolić went to Turkey[1] where he played for Karşıyaka Izmir and ITU Istanbul in the Turkish Super League.
Yugoslavia national team
As a player for the Yugoslavia national basketball team Nikolić has played from 1957 to 1964. He participated at one World Championships (1963 in Brazil)[2] and four European Championships (1957 in Bulgaria, 1959 in Turkey, 1961 in Yugoslavia and 1963 in Poland)[3] and two Summer Olympics (1960 in Rome and 1964 in Tokyo).[4] Nikolić won one silver medals at 1963 World Championships, as well as one sliver medal (1961) and one bronze (1963) at European Championships. Also, he won a gold medal at 1959 Mediterranean Games in Lebanon.
Coaching career
During his coaching career, Nikolić was head coach of national teams of Katar, Bahrein and Kuwait.[1]

- Turkish Super League champion: 1 (with ITU Istanbul: 1969–70).
- Yugoslav Cup winner: 2 (with OKK Beograd: 1960, 1962).
