Michael Francis McAuliffe was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the second bishop of the Diocese of Jefferson City.[1]
Biography
Bishop McAuliffe was born on November 22, 1920, in Kansas City, Kansas, the second of six sons of John Joseph McAuliffe and Bridget Agnes (Broderick) McAuliffe. He was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, on May 31, 1945. Upon the resignation of Bishop Joseph M. Marling, Pope Paul VI appointed him the second Bishop of Jefferson City on July 2, 1969. He was consecrated and installed on August 18, 1969 at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Jefferson City. His motto was "In Truth and Charity." He died on January 6, 2006. He is buried at Resurrection Cemetery in Jefferson City.
