Meraj Airlines (Persian: هواپیمایی معراج Havāpeymāiye Meraj‎‎) is a Private and the first VIP Airlines in Iran and it is the youngest airline in Iran based on the fleet age. It also operates the Air transports for the Heads of State and Government of Iran. The airline is based in Tehran-Mehrabad and Tehran-IKA. The company has established another 2 hubs as well, respectively in Mashhad and Kish Island for better coverage of its flight network.[3] According to the statistics and formal notification of Iran's Airline Organization, Meraj Airlines has achieved the first place in having punctual flights with less delays among domestic companies.[4][5]

Meraj Airlines scheduled commercial destination as of March 2016. All International scheduled commercial flights operates by Airbus A300-622R they also sometimes operates by Airbus A320, but all domestic scheduled commercial flights operates only by Airbus A320.[6]

[11] Meraj Airlines has the youngest fleet in Iran. Meraj Airlines' fleet as of January 2016. Even though U.S. sanctions against Iranian Airlines and Aviation prohibit the acquisition of aircraft by Iranian airlines from the manufacturer or younger than 7 years old, along with a ban on acquiring aircraft once operated by a U.S. carrier or with more than 25 percent U.S. content, Meraj has expanded its fleet by purchasing Airbus narrow- and wide-body aircraft from countries without sanctions against Iran. Meraj has announced it will order more than 50 Medium and Long-haul Aircraft from Airbus and Boeing as soon as sanctions are lifted.[11][12][13]

The Meraj Airlines logo a circle with 2 symbolic wings represents function, position, ambition and finally the identity of the organization. Red and Blue are specific colors of this aviation organization, blue is the color of the mind and is essentially soothing moreover is the color of communication, trust and serenity. Red, a powerful color is a symbol of life, strength, stimulation, energy and flight. In 2015, Meraj Airlines had painted the nose of an Airbus A320 and the fuselage of An Airbus A300 with the visage of an Asiatic cheetah in collaboration with the Iranian Cheetah Society to raise awareness of the endangered cat.[14]

Cabin

First Class

Introduced in 2015 Sleeper seating is available on 2-class Airbus A300-600 aircraft (Which operates only International flights). Each seat converts to a 2 metres (6 ft 7 in) bed, includes massage function, partition, winged headrest with six-way movement, two individual reading lights and an overhead light per seat, in-seat power supply, USB Ports and an RCA socket for laptop connection as well as entertainment facilities. Arriving passengers have the option of using Meraj's First Class arrival facilities, as well as the new Welcome Lounge at Tehran-IKA Airport.

Business Class[15]

The original, Business Class features angle-lie flat seats with 150 degrees of recline. Passengers are also offered to use Meraj's arrival Lounge facilities. Meraj's business seating is limited and may not be available on all flights.

Premium Economy[16]

Introduced on Airbus A320 Meraj's short-haul Premium Economy is being rolled out on all short-haul aircraft, starting with a select number of Airbus A320. In this situation it offers you Economy + seating with more space, comfort and better services.

Economy class[17]

Passengers receive meals, as well as free drinks. Moreover, the whole fleet offers entertainment system.

Entertainment system[18]

Meraj airline passengers can use the main screen entertainment fitted in the cabin to watch a variety of different programs including comedy clips, documentaries and sporting events in addition to tutorial of flight safety equipment.

Awards

Meraj Airlines has achieved the first place in having punctual flights with less delays among domestic companies for three consecutive years in 2012, 2013 and 2014, with 85% of all its flights being on time and with an average delay of 7 minutes for the delayed flights.[4][19] This award was given to Meraj Airline by the Iran Civil Aviation Organization.

Partnership with Darvishi Royal Hotel

Meraj Airlines and Darvishi Royal hotel have signed a tight partnership in July 2015.[20][21]

Sponsorship

Meraj Airlines is the official sponsor of shirt and travel of Persian Gulf Pro League club Siah Jamegan Khorasan F.C. Since the 2015–16 season.[22]

Incidents and Accidents

Meraj Airlines is the only Middle Eastern Airlines that has not yet have any Incidents or Accidents, becoming one of the safest Airlines in Asia.[23]
