The Mayor of New Taipei is the chief political executive of the city of New Taipei in Taiwan. The mayor, a new position created when New Taipei's predecessor entity Taipei County was upgraded to a special municipality in 2010, is elected to a four-year term. The equivalent position in the former county was Taipei County Magistrate. The mayor is Eric Chu, Hou You-yi temporarily replaced Eric Chu from 20 October 2015 until 18 January 2016 due to the 2016 Republic of China presidential campaign.[1][2]
