London Buses route 330 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Wanstead Park and Canning Town stations, it is operated by Stagecoach London.
History
Route 330 commenced operating on 25 September 1993 between Wanstead Park station and Blackwall via Upton Park, Plaistow, Canning Town and Poplar replacing part of route 58. Buses operated beyond the Canning Town terminus of route 58 as far as the new bus terminus at Blackwall DLR station, which the route shared with route 40.[citation needed]
Initially route 330 was operated by DRL-class Dennis Darts, these were replaced on 16 September 1995 by S-class Scania double deckers. These were themselves replaced by low-floor Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident 2s.[citation needed]
Upon being re-tendered, the route was retained by Stagecoach London with a new contract commencing on 8 May 2004.[1]
It was announced in 2009, that the route would be extended to Canary Wharf by the end of the year. Local residents ran a campaign to get the route extended to Wanstead High Street, claiming that this would improve transport capacity in the area during the temporary closure of Wanstead station. A petition gained 250 signatures.[2] Another petition which had started earlier, in October 2008, had already received 116 signatures.[3] Neither extension was implemented
Stagecoach London successfully tendered to retain the route, with a new contract commencing on 7 May 2011.[4]
