Baahubali: The Beginning is a 2015 Indian epic fantasy film written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli. Made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, it was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah in lead roles, with Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, Adivi Sesh, Tanikella Bharani and Sudeep appearing in supporting roles. The soundtrack and background score were composed by M. M. Keeravani while K. K. Senthil Kumar provided the cinematography. The film was edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, the art direction was done by Sabu Cyril, with special effects provided by V. Srinivas Mohan.

The first of the two cinematic parts, Baahubali: The Beginning opened worldwide on 10 July 2015 to critical acclaim and record-breaking box-office collections, becaming the highest grossing film in India, and third worldwide.[1] Grossing gross over 600 crore (US$89 million) worldwide against a budget of 120 crore (US$18 million), the film became the first South Indian film, and the first non-Hindi film to gross over 100 crore (US$15 million) in the dubbed Hindi version.

The Beginning garnered many awards and nominations in several categories with praise for Rajamouli's direction, cinematography, production design, costumes, and cast's performances. At the 63rd National Film Awards, the film won awards the Best Feature Film, and the Best Special Effects.[2] It also won eleven awards at the IIFA Utsavam 2015, including Best Picture, Best Director to Rajamouli, Best Supporting Actress to Krishnan and Best Supporting Actor to Sathyaraj. The film has been nominated in five categories at the 42nd Saturn Awards, including nominations for the Best Fantasy Film and Best Supporting Actress for Tamannaah.
