The UK Singles Chart is a record chart compiled by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on behalf of the British record industry. The chart week runs from Sunday to Saturday, with the top 40 singles being broadcast on BBC Radio 1's Chart Show each Sunday. Until the end of 2004 the chart was based entirely on sales of physical singles from retail outlets, at which point legal music downloads were included in the compilation of the chart.[1][2]

The list below shows all the singles that appeared in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart during 2003, including songs in the top 10 that peaked in 2002 and 2004. The date in the "Top 10 Entry Date" column is the date that the single entered the top 10 for the first time. Around 230 singles charted in the top 10 during 2003, with 219 of these reaching their peak that year. Nine singles from 2002 remained in the top 10 for several weeks at the beginning of the year, while "Hey Ya! by "Outkast was released in 2003 but did not reach its peak until 2004.[3][4] Sixty artists scored multiple entries in the top 10 in 2003.

Sk8er Boi, the second single released by Canadian singer Avril Lavigne, was the only song from 2002 to reach its peak in 2003, reaching number eight on 5 January 2003 having entered the top 10 on 22 December 2002.[5] The first highest new entry to chart in 2003 was "Danger! High Voltage" by Electric Six, the song debuted at number two in the chart.[6] Jamaican artist Sean Paul achieved five top five entries in the United Kingdom, including the number-one single "Breathe", which he recorded with Blu Cantrell.[7] Busted, Girls Aloud, Christina Aguilera, The Cheeky Girls and Ronan Keating all had four top 10 singles in 2003, with Busted claiming the number-one spot on two occasions with "You Said No" and "Crashed the Wedding".[8] Girls Aloud reached the top with "Sound of the Underground" and Aguilera with "Beautiful".[5][9] "Where is the Love?" by The Black Eyed Peas spent the longest period of time in the top 10, with six weeks at number-one and eleven weeks in total.[10]

Top 10 singles

Russian duo t.A.T.u. caused controversy in early 2003 with the music video for their number-one single "All the Things She Said".
Rapper 50 Cent's debut single, "In da Club", reached number four in April 2003. Two further singles also charted in the top 10 in 2003: "P.I.M.P." (#5) and "21 Questions" (#6).
Ex-'N Sync band member Justin Timberlake achieved three UK top 10 singles in 2003. "Cry Me a River" and "Rock Your Body" both charted at number two, while "Work It" peaked at number seven.
