Mister Ed is a U.S. fantasy sitcom that was produced by Filmways. It first aired in syndication from January 5 to July 2, 1961 and then on CBS from October 1, 1961 to February 6, 1966, producing 143 black-and-white episodes over six seasons. On December 10, 1961, that week's telecast was pre-empted by the 1961 telecast of the film The Wizard of Oz.

All six seasons of Mister Ed are currently available on DVD in the U.S.

Mister Ed was the first show to premiere as a mid-season replacement.[citation needed]

Notes: Although this episode was a popular classic, dramatic changes to the series were made during this season. The main change was made following the death of Larry Keating (Roger Addison), who died of leukemia on August 29, 1963. The character of Kay Addison continued for a few more episodes but was eventually dropped. So there are no additional episodes with Ed and "Brush Face". In 1997 TV Guide ranked this episode number 73 on its "100 Greatest Episodes of All Time" list.[1]

Note: In this episode, we meet Wilbur's new neighbors the Kirkwoods, replacing the husband/wife team of the Addisons. The Kirkwoods will remain the Posts' neighbors to the end of season 5.
