Lights Out is an upcoming 2016 American supernatural horror film directed by David F. Sandberg in his major directorial debut, written by Eric Heisserer, and produced by Lawrence Grey, Heisserer, and James Wan, based on Sandberg's 2013 award-winning short film of the same name. The film stars Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman and Maria Bello.
The film, much like the original short film it was adapted upon, revolves around a supernatural entity only visible in the dark, which terrorizes a local family when a child sees it for the first time, which the sister recognizes possibly as a former childhood friend.
After the success of the short film and its viral status, Sandberg announced a feature film adaption of the short film. Principal photography began on June 29, 2015, and filming wrapped up on August 5.
It is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2016 through Warner Bros. Pictures.
