The Malaysia People's Football League (Liga Bolasepak Rakyat or Liga Bola Sepak Rakyat in Malay) is the fourth-tier football league in Malaysia. The league are managed by (Liga Bolasepak Rakyat-Limited Liability Partnership (LBR-LLP) and it is an amateur-level competition. It was established in 2015 to provide an alternative entry point for young players.[1] Currently there are a total of 111 teams representing their district out of more than 150 possible districts in the country. The teams were divided into 8 zones.[2] according to their regional location.

History

People’s Football League is the joint idea of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Tengku Mahkota Pahang, with an objective of developing football systematically, besides functioning as an institute to produce talented players for the national side. A total of 111 teams from all around the country will be joining the amateur-level competition for 2015-16 season, which is divided to 8 zones where 520 matches to be played.[3][4]

Teams

Currently there are a total of 111 teams out of more than 150 possible districts in the country participated in the Malaysia People's Football League. The teams were divided into 8 zones[2] according to regional location. After just 2 games, Gombak, the team from Middle Zone 1 withdrawed from the league for unspecified reason which in turns left total teams in the league to be only 110.

North Zone

Perlis

As Perlis is a small state they actually have no district but only sub-districts but they have 3 main areas which are Kangar, Arau and Padang Besar where all are represented in the league.

Kedah

There are 12 districts in Kedah and currently only 9 districts are represented in the league while 3 others still not yet in it.

West Zone

Penang

There are 5 districts in Penang. Seberang Perai consist of 3 districts - North, Middle and South which currently only south team are represented in the league. The other missing district not represented in the league are Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah.

Perak

There are 11 districts in Perak and currently only 7 districts are represented in the league while 4 others still not yet in it. While there are 9 teams in the league from Perak, 2 teams are a sub-district. Ipoh is a sub-district of Kinta and Sungai Siput is a sub-district of Kuala Kangsar.

Middle Zone 1

Selangor

There are 9 districts in Selangor and all districts are represented in the league.

Pahang

There are 11 districts in Pahang and all districts are represented in the league. There is another team which from Pahang included in the league which is Muadzam Shah which is a city inside of Rompin district.

Middle Zone 2

Federal Territories of Malaysia

There are 13 districts from Federal Territories, 11 districts from Kuala Lumpur, 1 from Putrajaya and another 1 from Labuan and all are represented in the league.

Negeri Sembilan

There are 7 districts in Negeri Sembilan and all districts are represented in the league.

South Zone

Malacca

There are 3 districts in Melaka and all districts are represented in the league.

Johor

There are 10 districts in Johor and all districts are represented in the league.

East Zone

Kelantan

There are 10 districts in Kelantan and currently only 7 districts are represented in the league while 3 others still not yet in it.

There are 8 districts in Terengganu and all districts are represented in the league.

Borneo Zone 1

There are 25 districts in Sabah and currently only 8 districts are represented in the league while 17 others still not yet in it.
