Koratala Siva is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works primarily in Telugu cinema. He worked as dialogue and script writer for the films Bhadra and dialogue writer for Munna, Okkadunadu, Brindavanam and Oosaravelli.[1] Best known for directing Mirchi. Siva has also directed Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in his 2015 film Srimanthudu, which went to become Industry Hit after Baahubali: The Beginning at the Box Office.

Career

Siva after completing his B.Tech joined as an assistant to Posani Krishna Murali who also happens to be a relative of siva.[2] His first film as a writer was 'Girl Friend' directed by Nageswara Reddy. An interesting fact: The story of Tamil film 'Boys' directed by Shankar, made and released one year after 'Girl Friend', has very very close resemblance to Siva's Story. Later Siva received widespread acclaim as the writer for Bhadra which was a career turning hit and gave a second lease of life for Hero Ravi Teja. Though he is credited only for Dialogues in the titles of Bhadra, it was all evident during the shooting of the film that Siva gave the story and screenplay as well. Later Siva wrote Dialogue's for several movies like Okkadunnadu, Munna, Brindavanam, Oosaravelli. It is widely believed in the film industry that Siva was the writer for Balakrishna's comeback Movie 'Simha' directed by Boyapati Seenu. With Simha, Bhadra, Brindvanam and later with Mirchi as well, Siva gained reputation in the Telugu Film Industry as a writer who can write scripts that can help boost and resurrect the track record of Heroes when they are in need of a hit. This was proved again with his directorial Srimanthudu, where he gave an Industry hit (Rs.92+ Crores) to Mahesh Babu after Mahesh's two recent flops. Despite having a relatively short career as a writer, Siva's Directorial potential made him a well respected technician in the industry. Siva's first venture as director was Mirchi starring Prabhas & Anushka which was one of the Biggest Hit's of 2013, also catapulted Prabhas from 'an actor who can deliver hits' to 'an actor who has the potential to create industry records' if backed by a good script.[3] A film with Ram Charan was announced by Bandla Ganesh but did not go to floors due to unknown reasons.[4]

Later Siva teamed up with Mahesh Babu for Srimanthudu. Shooting of this film started in 2014 and is being produced by Y. Naveen, Y. Ravi Shankar, C. V. Mohan. Movie released on 07th Aug 2015 and became a block buster super hit on the way to crossing Rs.180+ Crores standing next only to Bahubali.
