Geography

It is located about 4 miles south from Pickering by road and about 7½ miles north from Malton. It is just west of the A169 road.

Adjacent to the village lies one of the most popular amusement parks in England, Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo.[2] A gas field is nearby which pumps gas to the Knapton Generating Station, having been discovered in January 1985.
