Khariar College

Khariar College was founded on Vijaya Dashami, in October 1977. Its first home was in the old college building at the heart of its town. The land was donated by Smt. Sarju, Bai. The college began with only 67 students. In July 1978 it was affiliated to Sambalpur University, with English and M.I.L. (both Oriya & Hindi) history, political science, economics, and Oriya as optional subjects. In 1986-87, honors teaching in history was introduced. The same academic session also saw the introduction of commerce, logic, and education at +2 level.
