The Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Sifang C151C is the sixth generation of rolling stock to be introduced on the existing East West Line and North South Line. 12 trains were purchased and they will be delivered between 2018 and 2019.
Tender progress
In the turnkey Contract C151C, 3 tenderers submitted bids – Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd/Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Singapore) Pte Ltd Consortium, CSR Zhuzhou, and Hyundai Rotem. On 22 September 2015, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that it has awarded the tender to Kawasaki Heavy Industries/CSR Sifang at a price of S$136.8 million.[1][2]
New features
The C151C will be the first MRT rolling stock on the NSEWL to be fitted with fold-up seats, and a newer Dynamic Route Map Display also found in T251 on the Thomson-East Coast Line.[1]
