Kathleen JoAnn Bradley (born January 10, 1951) is an American former model and actress. Bradley primarily known as a "Barker's Beauty" on the daytime game show The Price Is Right from 1990 to 2000. Although a woman named Harriet holds the distinction of being the first African-American model on the show (she appeared occasionally in episodes from the first season of the Dennis James-hosted syndicated version in 1972), Bradley was the first permanent African-American model on the show.
Career
Born and raised in Girard, Ohio, Bradley won the "Miss Black California" award in 1971. In 1979, she was part of the short-lived disco group Destination, which had a hit single with a remake of Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up." She played the part of Mrs. Parker in the movie Friday.[1]
Departure from The Price Is Right
Bradley, along with longtime model Janice Pennington, was released from her modeling duties on The Price Is Right in October 2000, shortly after having testified during the lawsuit for slander and defamation of character host Bob Barker filed against model Holly Hallstrom. Barker lost his suit against Hallstrom and afterward fired Bradley along with model Janice Pennington and other show staffers whose testimony contradicted Barker's.[2]
In June 2014, Bradley released her memoirs, Backstage at The Price Is Right: Memoirs of a Barker Beauty.[1]
