KWST (1430 AM) is a radio station[1] owned by Entravision Communications and broadcasts to the Imperial Valley, Yuma, Arizona and Mexicali Valleys. The city of license is El Centro, California.
History
Went on air in 1948, KAMP was one of the leading four or five radio stations for the Yuma/El Centro area for the next five or six decades. It was under the ABC Radio and NBC Radio affiliations, then became a country/western music station and switch to an oldies format. KAMP was audible from Blythe, California, Indio, California and Gila Bend, Arizona in the daytime depending on atmospheric conditions.
The station changed its callsign from KAMP to the current KWST call sign by the Federal Communications Commission on March 15, 2001.[2]
